How it works

A Mind is something that comes to understand you, over time, and that you can read and change. Here is what that means in practice, in the order you meet it.

You begin with a conversation, not a form

Your Core Mind asks what is on your mind and listens. From what you say it notes what it has understood, tells you so, and asks which parts of your life you would like kept apart. Those you choose become Minds of their own, named in your words.

Each Mind holds what it understands about you

A memory is something a Mind has understood — something you stated, or something it inferred and marked as inferred. You can see every one, see how sure the Mind is, see where it came from, correct it, move it to another Mind, or forget it. Nothing is held without you being able to find it.

Not everything weighs the same

What a Mind is using now shapes its answers. What it holds more lightly is set aside — still there, still yours to read, offered back if it becomes relevant again. What has settled into long memory is not raised on its own and is there whenever you look. Nothing is silently dropped, and you can see which is which.

Minds are separate unless you connect them

A Mind cannot read another. If you want your Work Mind to know something your Home Mind understands, you connect the two, say what kind of thing may cross and in which direction, and you can withdraw that at any time. A Mind you have marked private never contributes to your Core.

Every answer comes with a receipt

When a Mind answers, you can see what it drew on: which memories, from which Minds, and what was kept out. If it did not know something you thought it should, you can ask why, and it will tell you — and let you put it right.

Forgetting is removal

When you forget a memory, it is removed — the memory, its evidence, its connections, what was built on it, and its entry in search — and you get a receipt naming what went and what was kept, and why. What is kept is the record that you agreed, and records that point to the memory by identifier only, with the words gone. Backups expire within 7 days.

The model is a component

The model that produces the words is rented, and it is not where your Mind lives. Which models are used, and where your words are sent, is published on the proof page and read from the same register the system reads — so it cannot say one thing while the system does another.

Everything you own, in one file

You can take a copy of everything — every Mind, every memory with where it came from, every connection you allowed, every decision, every conversation if you want them — as one documented file, whenever you like.
